A defense official has stated that the Ministry of Defence is actively examining the possible threats associated with Chinese-made cars, while staff have been instructed to avoid discussing classified matters in any vehicles.

In a recently aired appearance on a radio station, Luke Pollard addressed claims that MoD staff have been told not to discuss secret material while riding in China-made vehicles.
The minister said that the MoD is “investigating” cars from China within its vehicle pools, but emphasised that security is a concern in every contemporary vehicles.

When it was suggested that it would be prudent for the MoD to cease using all Chinese vehicles, the minister responded: ‘That’s precisely what we’re investigating at the moment.”

The announcement comes as claims from Norway and Denmark have alerted the United Kingdom to the existence of dual-use kill switches in Chinese buses, which could enable the Chinese government to disable buses and cause chaos to transport systems.
Furthermore, a Russia spy ship was reportedly shining lasers at RAF aircrew, labeled a “highly dangerous” action by government representatives.
